Using Shredded Paper as Cat Litter

It didn't work for me!

Actually, my less picky cat was fine. He's just fluffy so he would take a lot of the paper with him and I'm not sure if the poopy clumps on my kitchen bench were from my short-haired cat or Jared.

But this morning Bilf (short-haired cat) shat behind my television! Aaaah! He usually poops in the bath tub when he's upset with the litter situation. So I know it was really bad. Anyway, back to litter.
It just costs me more money because I try to only shop local, but it's totally worth it. The shredded paper still works for my mouse though so that saves me $16 a month.

My poor Jared is also puking a lot. And he puked in front of my tv. What a day. I learned he cannot eat so much wet food at one time. He eats too fast.

Yes, my cats are so sexy with their bodily functions.

I'm glad this happened though because it's forcing me to winter clean. I can't let my cats in my room without me because I have a couple of cluttered spaces and I think these are their favorite places to do nasty things (because they feel hidden?).

"Oculus" Review

I give this 2014 movie an 11. It was super creepy and scary. The premise was completely original except for the disorientation part which I don't usually LOVE, but I liked how it switched back and forth between the past and the present. What really would have made it a 12 would have been if they got their revenge, but hey, it's a scary movie.

"Nightbreed" Review

This movie is from 1990 by Clive Barker. It was pretty good. I'm making my scale from 1-12, 12 being the best. I give this movie a 9. The weaving of serial killer meets destined hero meets breed of super creeps of the night who are actually "good" was intriguing.

The main character had a crazy big, elongated face which was kinda cool because I wonder if he was cast because it would be easier to change his make-up to creepy.

I definitely recommend this movie.

Vegan Creepmas and Mac

One more week of exams and then I'm done. Yes! My health has been downhill. I haven't been exercising at all. I have been trying to drink green smoothies though. My sweet Bakersfield got me a green juice today. But I've been eating whatever I want. Which is kind of ok because I would like to start the Raw til 4 lifestyle. Sort of. And for that I don't want to gain weight. And I eat 2000+ calories now so I probably wouldn't see a difference in weight. It really turns me off to think I could totally super clean and healthy and gain weight. I might change my mind about how concerned I am with weight, but oh, well for now.

Here's my cats. Bilf is all over Jared. Jared doesn't care.

My friend Robin!

So after exams I plan to participate in some Creepmas activities like halloweenizing some xmas stuff.

My healthy meal (not) of Earth Balance Cheddar Mac and Tofurky BBQ Chkn Pockets. Mmmm. Good thing I had a 16 oz green juice today. That was about 1000 calories (!).

My favorite cookies!

Biscoff!

I had been wanting this for awhile now. And then it expired at work so now it is mine. It's 11:30pm I'm watching the Mindy Project for the first time. Very funny. I should be doing homework. Not funny. I work too much. It's my own fault. I should know by now damn it. I'm 29. Ack. I'm eating Biscoff by the spoonful. Bakersfield proposed to me! I am the happiest girl in the world. I wish we lived together already.

It is really thick and I'm not sure how I feel about melted cookies on bread.

Good stuff.

Also I have lots of bananas.

My weight is fluctuating wildly it's kind of a bummer. I'm just willy-nilly eating what I want, but I have no desire to exercise with my busy sched. Oh, well. As long as I feel good. It sucks how work as not the same as exercising.

A HCLF Breakfast/Lunch

Orange Juice. Fresh Squeezed.

I chopped up some dates that were getting too mealy and rolled them around in carob powder and coconut shreds.

HCLF Vegan Update

Ugh. I ate way too much fat today. I was feeling pretty good the past couple days, but feeling a little too restrictive so I started eating whatever I wanted. I ate a candy bar. Vegan Twilight. It's like a milky way. I kinda feel like crap right now. So tomorrow I will try to be hclf. I'm trying to think about what sounds good for dinner. I have a salad, but it just does not taste good. I was trying to make myself eat the rest of this italian dressing that has high fructose corn syrup. Maybe I should just throw it out. It's just not agreeing with me.

I haven't been exercising as much as I'd like. Blah.

Maybe potatoes. Hmm. I have to go to a play tomorrow.

Recipe Remake:Chocolate Chip Cookies for One

Chocolate Covered Katie is a vegan dessert maker with her own blog. One of the recipes is making chocolate chip cookies for two with two cookies.

The lonely cookie. I ate half the cookie dough. This is a gluten-free cookie.

I'm going to save this one for tomorrow.

Banana Cake

Frozen bananas, fresh figs, dates. And cinnamon.

ELF Mascara

The mascara was $3. Which is awesome.

I had to get this though. It doesn't come off very easily.

It kinda flakes off and not all at once. I still enjoy wearing it. I hope to try Lush's wheatgrass mascara sometime. My eyes are pretty sensitive.

Homemade Spring Rolls! GF!

At first glance dry rice papers do not look like something you want to eat. And even after you prep them by just dipping them in warm water they may not look very appetizing either.

But they are! I love how they get all stretchy. I have mushrooms, cucumbers, rice noodles, chives, cilantro and romaine in mine. I dipped them in a peanut sauce I made-peanut butter, vegan honey, organic sugar, bragg's soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, and orange juice. Kinda high-fat, but I was thinking maybe I could use peanut butter powder next time.

What I Ate: More GF & ELF Review

I have been watching lots of HCLFV videos and I am seeing so many people make good dinners without fat, sodium or gluten. I think I am going to keep trying to be HCLF. I'm going really slow btw. :)

My mom got me this soup. I really loved the ELF nail polishes I got. They come off fast and the nail polish remover pads may run out fast, but the fact that I know they are all vegan makes me gleeful. Yay! Finally, I can buy cheap make-up.

I added some beyond meat strips and they were gf. They have a great texture.

Chips! High-fat. Oops.

Oh, no. High-fat as well. I'm trying. And I added this to my soup for an extra kick.

I finished the meal with some local kombucha.

Whoa! ELF makeup is vegan and cruelty-free! I ordered 21 pieces for $40 and I got free shipping. I will be posting about them in later posts as I use them.

Vegan Shower Show

This toothpaste is pretty cool. I think I like my nature's Gate Mint better though. This one tastes like licorice. At first, I didn't mind, but now it's getting to me.

I like it. It says to use before brushing. I like that it's organic and raw. Whatever that means.

I've been using this for awhile by desert Essence. I can buy a huge bottle and save money. It makes my face feel clean.

This smells like bubble gum. I never pay attention to what shampoos claim to do (this one says volumizing) because a shampoo isn't going to magically fix your hair. A clean diet will. Well, at least for me.

My birthday is Wed. I will post pics of my food and cake soon.

Stuff I Ate and Arbonne!

Some pumpkin bread that is almost gluten-free. It says it contains traces. From Sami's Bakery. Addictive. Not too sweet. Reminds me of the hawaiian bread I don't eat because it has milk in it. I have to veganize that spinach dip my gma makes now.

I hadn't had this kind yet. And man I think it's my favorite.

The roast beef style slices are really good with these Daiya swiss style slices. Ha. What bland names, but at least I know exactly what it is.

This is my favorite sausage from Field Roast: Apple Sage. Mmmm.

From Arbonne I got the corrective eye creme, which I have been using only a couple days now. A little goes a long way.

I also got this collagen supplement. I'm a sucker for pills that claim to make you look younger. And especially since I know that Arbonne is all vegan. I will write about the results when I finish the bottle.

Pot Brownies and Chapstick

Oh, man this is my favorite lip balm and I found it at American Apparel in Clifton! Yay! I usually can't find it anywhere.

There's a candy store I hardly ever go into because I don't really eat food coloring anymore and I used to love swedish fish.  Then I saw a sign advertising raw vegan canabis brownies. I walked right in and bought some. $10.14 for two small ones!

They did not taste very good. They were kind of wet and gooey in a bad way. I do think they chilled me out a little. Or maybe I just think they did.

Marshmallows and Ice cream

I cannot believe I didn't try these sooner. For some reason pints look more appealing. I am totally wrong. These are much better because I don't eat the whole pack.

Creamiest vegan ice cream I have had in a long time. Cafe latte. My favorite.

I got the Dandies minis! Yay! Mostly for hot cocoa, but I left it at Bakersfield's house.

So I put them in a little bowl and ate them plain. I love marshmallows. They taste just like gelatin ones to me.

Gluten-free tacos!

So I had some Beyond Meat feisty crumbles.

Some local salsa.

Super local corn tortillas. Made perfectly btw.

I added some jalapeno daiya block cheese and local corn. Hit the spot.

And a side salad.

Babushka and Candy Bacon

These Pierogies are amazing. They are locally made by two amazing women. One of whom I know lives OTR (or damn near). They make ones with real cheese and meat I think. At Park+Vine we get these vegan potato cheddar and saurkraut ones. Super yum. I think of it as a quick snack or nice side when I am eating salad or steamed veggies. (I feel like I need to say when companies have meat ones, too. The other day someone had our vegan goetta and then ate meat goetta somewhere else because they didn't know. Sad face.)

I tried another Phoney Baloney Coconut Bacon! This one is candied and I put it on some vanilla soy ice cream.

It was very good and just the right balance of sweet and salty and bacon. I had seconds.
