What I ate today

I did not eat Bakersfield. He did handle one of my melons though.

Banana ice cream with pumpkin pie spice and vegan honee.

I also sampled what we had for brunch at Park+Vine. French toast and a new hollandaise sauce. For both things I used Vegg! I was really excited about both things. They tasted great. I definitely will use thicker bread next time and let the hollandaise sauce thicken more before serving.

Then I ate quinoa, beans, broccoli, asparagus, and a salad. All were leftovers. And 1 and a half Gardein fish fillets.

This X-Files Novel is Pretty Good

I'm going to have to start bringing my camera to work. Today I had two cups of coffee with So Delicious French Vanilla Coconut Creamer. I had a cup of cabbage and white bean soup and a Rubenator. A Rubenator is made with Shadeau sourdough rye bread, thousand island dressing, tempeh, Daiya mozzarella, and purple kraut. It is my favorite sandwich at my job. I also ate that cookie from Iris I bought yesterday. And 2 dates. As soon as I got home I ate a piece of bread with mayo and mustard with my leftover salad.

I had to check online to make sure this was vegan and was happy to see that they had a chart with a lot of different diets and allergies. This was for sure vegan. It's from my mom.

I added green bell peppers, onion, carrot and garlic.

I ran out of greens! So I used a wheatgrass shot from my freezer and two teaspoons of matcha powder. Also I used a cup of unsweetened soymilk, 3 dates, and 1 and a half frozen banana. This was really tasty and creamy. Ok, I'm going to read some more and take a bath.

Leftovers and Mac

Tonight's dinner did not thrill me.

Leftover hamburger and fries.

So glad I finally tried it.

It was really good. My mom liked it, too. I'm feeling a little sicky, but I would be able to go out if I had to. Just had a vitamin c packet and two pieces of bread with pb and vegan honey.

Main Street Shopping

I went shopping today on Main Street OTR.

This is Mannequin, a vintage shop that donates to many charities. They just moved from Vine St. to Main.

I got these shoes.

This is Iris Book Cafe.

Shelves of books line almost every wall. There's also an art show held every Final Friday. That's actually the owner there in the corner.

She makes vegan chocolate chip cookies, too and they have vegan options and kombucha. I got one of these cookies.

National Geographics.

The comics section. Small, but has some good ones. I forgot to ask if they will get some new stuff in.

I need to get a record player. I got an X-Files novel, an Edgar Allan Poe novel, and a War of the Worlds graphic novel illustrated by Steve Niles (one of my faves). Only $8.50.

Receipts, My Cat, and Other Random Shit I Ate

Being vegan and healthy is not super expensive!!! I am going to show my receipts and tell you what stuff my mom got me. Sometimes she gets random shit and it's vegan and I eat it. I also have gotten some veggies from a friend and soon I will be getting veggies from a nearby garden!

Super cheap and super healthy meals include green smoothies, and salads. Or just adding greens to whatever you have for dinner.

My smoothies are usually frozen bananas, a different fruit, greens (like 2 cups worth) and tap water. I have a Ninja and I got that for Xmas from my uncle. One day I will get a Vitamix. Sometimes I wish Bakersfield would jokingly/seriously get me an engagement Vitamix. Before my Ninja I used a hand me down $20 blender from a gf until I accidentally dropped the lid inside while it was on.

Yeah, juices can be more expensive. At least to me because when I squash the fruits and veggies down the juicer tube I think of all the fiber I'm wasting and it usually ends up being $10- $15 to make 2 days worth. My usual juice is apple, greens, celery, cucumber, and lemon. Or orange juice! Actually this is my new favorite. And I love it. I am so glad I came upon the banana girl. I used to only drink a little bit of organic fresh squeezed oj because I thought it would make me fat. :(  Now i drink 32 oz. in five minutes without a care. And it's fucking delicious. The green juices I am really used to by now over the years, but I still cringe a tad. OJ is better.

I am not going to give up on HCLFV, but it feels good to eat pretty much whatever I want right now after getting back from Germany. It is also nice knowing that I like to eat stuff that makes me feel good. Like I still eat bread and candy and cakes and cookies, but I need vegetables (greens!) and fruit daily. They make me feel good. Period.

So my cashier was Joann. Good to know.

I took my cat, Bilf out for a walk.

Yay! I had been waiting to try these for awhile.

Yes, I see the palm fruit oil and the fat content.

Homemade fries- olive oil, salt and pepper. The vegan mayo is Just Mayo's. Organic Annie's Ketchup. Pickles and toms from mom. Bread was Veganic's Sunflower Sesame. Organic Stoneground mustard.

My mom ate this vegan meal with me! That makes me so happy. She said she would eat another meal with me tomorrow.

I have to get to Findlay Market sometime. Kroger is a few blocks closer than my farmer's market. On this trip I got a free bag of oranges because they couldn't find the price. I was too tired to argue. And a little excited. Free 4 lb bag of organic oranges!

And we had salad with our burgers and fries. I tried to make a dressing, but I didn't like it. Green peppers, onions, garlic, olive oil, ACV, salt, pepper, italian seasoning, and some nooch. Blah. My mom ate everything though. Tomorrow I'm thinking Mac+Chz with our leftover burgers.

And The Next Day After That

I don't think this is the right order in which I ate this stuff. This is leftovers. And I added some potatoes to it.

Mmm. One of my favorite meals. Vegan pizza. My mom had some pizza crusts lying around. I added peppers from a friend's garden, mushrooms, mozzarella Daiya, Field Roast maple apple sausage, and Local Folks Marinara. I made more pizzas and ate this whole pizza at least three more nights.

Carob Green smoothie. Kale from Lauren's garden.

Cantalope for breakfast. A whole one.

WOTD is nincompoop-a foolish or stupid person.

Next Day After Last Post

Organic fresh squeezed OJ! My fave breakfast.

On my way to work.

The root vegetable burger at Park+Vine's lunch counter.

Black beans, spinach, toms and mushrooms with snap peas. And soy sauce.

WOTD-maelstrom-a situation or state of confused movement or violent turmoil.
